HAF INFORMATION

  • Your child must be of school age (Reception to Year 11) and in full-time education, and receive benefits-related Free School Meals.
  • Children not on FSM may still access HAF places if referred by an approved professional (e.g. school safeguarding lead, social care, etc.).
  • Eligible households receive an email with a Solihull HAF code which must be shown when booking or attending.
  • If you have more than one eligible child, you will receive one email per child with their code.
  • If you haven’t received the email / code, check your junk folder, and if you still can’t find it, email hafinfo@solihull.gov.uk with your name and your child’s name.
  • The Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme gives children in Reception through Year 11 who receive benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM) access to free holiday camps that include healthy meals and enriching activities.
  • These camps are free of charge for eligible children.
  • The programme also runs in the October half-term and February half-term now (in addition to Easter, summer, Christmas).
  • Sessions run for 4 hours.
  • During each session, each child receives at least one free healthy meal.
  • Activities include physical and/or enriching experiences such as sports, dance, drama, arts & crafts, or other fun learning sessions.
  • You are encouraged not to send your child with their own food, since a meal is provided.

Our HAF setting is inclusive. Children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are welcome and supported.

  • If your child has additional needs, please let us know in advance of booking or attendance so we can make the necessary adjustments (for example, higher staff ratio, 1:1 support or specialist equipment).
  • Our HAF programme includes providers who specialise in SEND provision, and mainstream providers who can adjust their sessions for additional needs.
  • There is additional funding available to providers for children with SEND (or additional needs) so that reasonable adjustments can be made — this must be identified at booking.

If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), or you know they will need extra support, please contact us in advance and we will work with you and our HAF team to ensure the best possible experience.

There are maximums per holiday period:

  • October half-term, February half-term, Easter & Christmas: up to 4 sessions each
  • Summer: up to 16 sessions

To book:

  1. Use our booking page by selecting your dates and entering your child’s details.
  2. Provide your child’s HAF code to confirm the booking
  • If your child goes to school outside Solihull but is eligible for FSM, you can still use the HAF code from your area to book in Solihull.
  • Solihull works with neighbouring authorities (Birmingham, Coventry, Warwickshire) to allow children to use codes across borders.
  • Places are limited — booking early is advised.
  • If a child doesn’t attend (“no show”), providers are encouraged to contact the parent to understand why.
  • Here2Help is a resource run by Solihull Council which offers support with food, energy bills, and other essential household help.
  • If your family is struggling in other ways (housing, financial, social needs), Here2Help may help with referrals and advice.
